Or why we created something called “Battle & Bond.”
Who even does this?
In a town overflowing with yoga retreats, trauma releases, cacao circles, breathwork breakthroughs, tantra this and somatic that — someone decided to throw a family dance battle in the middle of the jungle?
Yes. That someone is us.
It began, as the best things do, with a throwaway comment over chai.
Shivani — our healer, teacher, head of kitchen hugs — said with a twinkle,
“Why don’t we do something… with kids?”
And then, after a pause — “With their parents too.”
We all laughed. Then we paused.
Then we really thought about it.
Could we create a retreat that wasn’t about fixing?
Not about healing your childhood — but spending time with your actual child.
Not about transcending the ego — but remembering how to dance with joy.
The idea wasn’t logical. It was magical.
And for once, we followed the magic.
We looked around. We already had everything:
🎤 A podcast room perfect for epic generational debates.
🕺🏽 Two dance teachers (Vivek and Ramana) who could turn a coconut into a performer.
🎨 Clay, colors, brushes, stones — and Param, who knows how to use them all.
🍲 Shivani with her cooking classes and quiet grace.
💡 And a wild jungle hideaway where Wi-Fi takes a nap and imagination wakes up.
That’s how Battle & Bond was born.
A retreat with only 7 families.
Where kids don’t get sidelined — they get the spotlight.
Where parents don’t just watch from the bench — they join the game.
A place to laugh loudly.
Compete kindly.
Debate fiercely.
Dance like maniacs.
And maybe even cry (a little) when it’s time to go.
Why the name? Because families are made of both:
The battles — over bedtime and vegetables,
And the bonds — over mangoes, hugs, and dance rehearsals.
At the heart of it all is connection.
The kind that doesn’t need words. Just a moment. A look. A beat.
Like when a father rolls laddoos beside his daughter.
Or when a child shouts across the garden: “Mummy, you’re in my team this time!”
So no — this isn’t your average Rishikesh retreat.
This one comes with painted Ganga stones, podcast debates called “Who Has It Tougher: Parents or Kids?” and forest yoga where giggling is allowed.
Because maybe what the world needs right now
is less “ascension” and more “family dance battles under mango trees.”
See you there.
Bring your kids. Or borrow one. Just don’t miss it.
