Why It's Designed This Way
Pottery is inherently slow — you can't rush a wheel session or a glaze cycle, and that's the point. Monsoon is the best season for this retreat specifically: higher humidity keeps the clay workable for longer and reduces cracking during drying, so sessions run smoother and pieces hold up better than they would in drier months. The sound of rain on the studio roof also makes for a genuinely different, more immersive working atmosphere. The retreat gives three structured wheel sessions spread across the stay, not back-to-back, so pieces have time to firm up between sessions, plus open studio access for anyone who wants to keep working outside class hours. Morning movement is kept light so hands and shoulders aren't fatigued going into studio time. Sound healing is placed mid-retreat as a deliberate reset from hours of hands-on focus.
